So, What Is This All About?

This Side of the Wall grew out of the corners of my mind. Back in 2006, I found myself with a newborn little boy, a new gig, and an incarcerated beloved. I needed a place to vent and find support for all of the changes I was going through. After searching for people in similar situations, I didn’t find anything that fit ME, so I created the site, The Prisoner’s Wife.

After years of dealing with prison visits, stumbling through motherhood, and dealing with life, the gemini in me wanted a change.  Although we still deal with the harsh reality of being a part of a separated family, it does not rule every aspect of my life, thus…This Side of the Wall was born.

Who I am?

Britni Danielle. I am mommy, writer, secondary English teacher, MFA graduate, nerd, music junkie, and avid reader. My poetry has been published by several literary journals and my articles/essays have been featured on Essence.com, TheFreshXpress, and MyBrownBaby.

I am a woman full of contradictions & convictions. I have a lot going on in my mind (and heart) & I’m glad you’ve chosen to take a moment to read this blog. Do comment, because sometimes I’m kinda vain (or is it insecure?).
